A ride like no other!
If you’re looking to just meet-up for a couple of hours, strut around showing off your ride, a bit of chit-chat meeting people and then ride away… look elsewhere.
The Peak District ride spans over 2 days – an entire weekend. It’s not just about the bikes. It’s about rekindling the whole sense of belongingness, brotherhood, the good natured banter, sharing of parts & knowledge with no expectations and the love amongst brothers-from-other-mothers.
With the PD, you get all of the above… and more.
Day 1 – The Nuthall – Heights of Abraham (Matlock) – Ashbourne – Premier Inn (Derby)
PD Riders: Benedict Protheroe, Darren Jones, Jeff Mouat, Scott Barmby, Kevin Moore, Mik Fieldgate, Anthony Georgiou, Scott Pritchard
Ride Organiser & Lead: Ankur Pande
We met up at The Nuthall in Nottingham for an amazing lunch and mad banter as we got to know each other. We then set off towards Heights of Abraham (Matlock) through the windy A6 roads. There were literally hundreds of bikes line the road on both sides; a sight to behold indeed. We stopped at the Halls (between Talisman & Kostas Fish Bar) for an ice-cream, the essential polishing of ScottB’s bike and a quick fix to Kevin’s leaking coolant tank.
A few photos later, we set off for the Ashbourne market square through some high-speed curvy/winding roads. The market square offered a coke/water later, loads of laughter, banter as we pulled each other’s leg, ending as we lined up the bikes for photos.
We then ended the day with a short ride to the Premier Inn Riverlights (Derby). After checking in and freshening up, we ventured out to an Indian restaurant for some spicy curry and ended the night at a local pub.
Day 2 – Peak View Tea Rooms – Arthur’s Way & Speedwell Cavern – Hobb’s Cafe – Chatsworth House – Esso Petrol Station
After an early full breakfast, Mik, Benedict & Ankur set off for a scenic ride to Peak View Tea rooms. With a beautiful sunny day on offer, the view from there was simply stunning. Even better was the ride to Speedwell Cavern via Arthur’s Pass. Mesmerising is an understatement. We stopped at the Speedwell Cavern for a quick coffee/coke, photos and banter before setting off for Hobb’s Cafe for an ice-cream. Again, amazing roads and views. The view from the cafe was simply unbelievable. Off we went to Chatsworth House… where a flower show was in full bloom (!). The customary photo outside the castle with our bikes in the foreground taken, we then set off to the last stop – Esso… we filled the tanks up just before departing for home.
The day had gone by so quickly… we simply did not realise the time in the wake of the beauty on offer in the Peak District. Our fate was sealed… this simply HAD to be an Annual Event…!
Here’s a few photos from the rideout. If you have group bike/rider photos which we may not have added here, please send them across to Ankur Pande via the contact us form.
