Our annual ride across the pond to Europe to meet our European brethren – the Dutch & Belgian VRodders. This is a serious must-do event for anyone even barely interested in VRod customisation. These guys know their shit! Some amazing bikes on the show!

So, Veghel 2019 was insane, is an understatement. We gathered up at a service station off M25 and then rode down to Folkstone to take the chunnel trainto Calais. The weather… well… it rained, hailed and snowed all the way down to Folkstone. If I’m totally honest, we did have a slight bit of sunshine for a few seconds…!

The train journey itself was quite uneventful. We got off at Calais to a wonderful sunny day and rode to Dunkirk to pay our respects to the brave soldiers who laid their lives down in WW2. This is also where my (Ankur Pande’s) headlight bracket broke! After lunch at the local McDonalds and an hour of trying to fix it, we gave up and set off again towards Veghel. A little further, Scott Pritchard’s lights went pop! So, now there were 2 of us without a working headlight, being supported by 3 bikes whose lights were. Interesting ride… to say the least :). But, we made it safe and sound.

The next morning, we made our way to the Veghel Central Harley Davidson showroom in Veghel for some help… and they are an absolutely amazing group! They fixed my headlight mount and gave me a couple of high tensile bolts – FREE. Also, sorted Scotty’s headlights right away for pennies! I mean… THAT is what I call customer service and looking after the Harley owners community. The rest of the gang went straight to the venue.

Those who made it to the venue straight, were able to take part in the awesome ride-out. As for ScottyP and me, things just weren’t going our way! Although we reached the venue on time despite the odds, the organisers had pulled up the ride-out an hour and we were literally looking at an empty venue!

We all reconvened at the Veghel Central Harley Davidson (VCHD) and then headed into Veghel for dinner. Dinner was an amazing Kebab. Despite the fact that we were ridiculously hungry, only Ant managed to finish his kebabs! The rest of us were struggling! I headed to Amsterdam to meet a friend and the rest of the gang headed back to the cottage.

Early next morning, we met up at McDonalds next to VCHD for breakfast and made tracks back to Calais to catch the chunnel train back to Folkstone. As we got off the train, we split up and made our own ways back home.

To say that the trip was going to be forever etched into our minds, is most definitely a fact. What a weekend… the brotherhood, the banter, the amazing camaraderie… was simply out of this world.

We built a family on the trip… we are now the “Band Of VRodders”.
